Warrington, England. Bilfinger has won a competitive tender to provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for a global biopharmaceutical company across multiple sites in the UK. The 5-year framework agreement, valued in the lower three-digit million euro range, aims to support the upgrade and refurbishment of laboratories and associated R&D facilities dedicated to the development of vital medicines in immunology and genetics. The selection of Bilfinger as the EPCM contractor was based on the company's proven expertise and track record in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as their ability to improve construction safety, enhance budget control, and deliver projects successfully.

To oversee the project, Bilfinger UK will deploy a team of to 25 to 30 highly skilled employees dedicated to managing all engineering, procurement and construction activities. Bilfinger’s main UK engineering office in Warrington will provide design and engineering support to the on-site team.
Additionally, Bilfinger will leverage its global pharmaceutical specialists to support the customer’s specific requirements. With decades of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Bilfinger posseses vast knowledge in pharma and biotechnological production processes. The company will use a Project Delivery Concept (PREDICT) in combination with the customer’s best practices to ensure effective stakeholder engagement at all levels. Bilfinger will also deploy industrial photogrammetry and 3D scanning for project surveys to enable digital design within the built environment, enhancing the stakeholder experience.
The framework agreement covers numerous projects, ranging from laboratory upgrades to new security control rooms. Planning is underway on the first project, an EPCM delivery hub which will house all of the Bilfinger personnel and contractors working on the EPCM projects within a truly collaborative environment, enhancing cultural alignment and continuous improvement.
