Scope:

Bilfinger UK's Engineering Department were tasked to provide buildings and civils design services to a point where engagement with design and build contractors was possible for our client.

To increase production and expand their range of materials, our client decided to expand their facility by installing a new forming line. As part of the expansion a building extension and new furnace was required.

The ground where the plant expansion was located was challenging with a bunker area and lower basement level to be tied in to.

Desktop and site investigations were conducted with supervision of 3rd party specialist surveys using 3D laser scanning to assist.

We also provided technical procurement and outlined the design in accordance with RIBA stage 3 which included:

Infrastructure modiﬁcations
Extension building location
Structural form, framing and main ﬂoor levels
Super and substructure structural element sizes

The design produced enabled EPC pricing to be achieved.
