Zahra Sanad works at the Bilfinger office in Bahrain. She joined Bilfinger as a Business Development Manager in 2020 and is passionate about her daily work: “Because I’m not really focused on one particular market, I have an opportunity to gain insights in most of the verticals that Bilfinger operates in. One day I’m working on a project for a big oil & gas company and the next for a nutrition project.”

With an academic background in civil engineering, Zahra accompanies projects for the tendering and planning phases all the way through to execution. “This gives me considerable insights into the different stages and services that Bilfinger provides. Depending on the project stage, I work on my own or in smaller teams.” Because she is responsible for Business Development in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates, Zahra often travels to other Bilfinger offices or meets customers at their sites: “I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work in an international company that gives me the possibility to work on projects in United Arab Emirates, for instance.”

In business development, it is important to have a close relationship with the customer. Zahra is in constant contact with them, while Bilfinger delivers industrial services. “Of course, market knowledge is important for business development,” Zahra notes, “but it is key to have regular meetings with relevant stakeholders in a project.”

“Last November, I was part of the Bilfinger team at ADIPEC. It’s one of the biggest industrial trade fairs in the Middle East. I truly enjoyed meeting current and potential customers. In the talks with them, I shared my experience from previous Bilfinger projects and informed them about our products”, Zahra says enthusiastically.

What she appreciates about working at Bilfinger is the culture of self-leadership. “In my area of responsibility, I have the chance to bring ideas to life and think outside of the box. Because I’m always in touch with colleagues around the world to share best practices, I’m able to broaden my horizons. This motivates me to give my best every day.”
