I am Thijn Kroeze, a 20 years old civil engineering student at the University of Applied Sciences in Groningen. In this blog, I am eager to share my experiences and insights from my internship at Bilfinger Tebodin – a company that really stood out to me during a university career event.

The choice to join Bilfinger Tebodin for my internship was deliberate; after completing an internship at a contractor company, I felt the need to expand my perspective. I was looking for an experience that would not only broaden my horizons but also deepen my understanding of the civil engineering field. During my internship at Bilfinger Tebodin, I am deeply involved in understanding the various aspects of the company. My main focus is on architecture and construction. Seeing the designs transition from a 3D model to physical structures is incredibly insightful. I am contributing to the fine details that enhance building designs and engaging in research aimed at improving construction techniques.

Exploring various positions at Bilfinger Tebodin during my internship led me to the Tender Management team to work on a tender, a role recommended by my manager that has allowed me to gain insight into the company's activities and its interactions with other firms. Additionally, working on an internal research project together with a trainee has also been an interesting part of my internship. This collaborative project not only utilized our combined knowledge but also showcased the depth of opportunities at Bilfinger Tebodin, greatly enriching my professional experience.

Now, as I am moving through my internship, I am exploring my options – further study or jumping into a trainee role and starting my career. The insights I am gaining here are definitely guiding these decisions.
