Bilfinger values long-term collaborations with its clients. I have been working as an Industrial Consultant at our client in the pharmaceutical industry for four years now, and I would love to share more about my experience working long-term for a client and the benefits that such a long-term partnership brings.

The client where I work is active in the pharmaceutical market. They do pretty much everything when it comes to creating medicines and vaccines: from research to disease prevention and from developing new drugs to producing and marketing them.

At this company, my title is EHS engineer. Our client originally hired Bilfinger to re-create a new EHS management system, of which its structure was then still based on old standards and needed to be renewed. We created and implemented a great new up-to-date management system that is now available throughout the entire organisation.

The great thing about the long-term partnership between Bilfinger and the client is that I really feel part of the EHS-team. Our EHS-team consists of six people and we do not make a distinction between who is from Bilfinger and who is not. The engineering department at our client also has many Bilfinger colleagues who have worked there for a long time.

I work at our client’s location three days a week. My daily activities consist largely of managing regulatory compliance and the EHS management system. A great example of this is coordinating changes to our EHS management system, in which each change made to an EHS-document is closely monitored and managed. With the implementation of the new management system including transfer to the well-managed standard document control system, overview and control for the EHS-documents has significantly been increased. Within this company, I also lead the weekly EHS-team meetings, I assure the company complies with the current EHS-laws and guidelines, and I coordinate applications for new permits and manage compliance to existing permits.

One of the advantages of our long-term partnership is that the client trusts me. I have a great number of responsibilities and am able to perform my job with the required amount of authority, whilst our client can focus on their core business. You can really see this best in the process of applying for permits. When I first started, I needed to be on the lookout for any new projects that would require permits. However, these days, people know to come to me, so we can get everything in place on time. On behalf of the client, Bilfinger drafts all their permit applications. Because I function as a coordinating link between these two parties and know who to contact within both companies, I can pass on any questions and make sure the whole process runs smoothly and efficiently.

Bilfinger’s expertise and experience means the permit procedure is done correctly and quickly for the client. Because we have been partners with this client for such a long time, we have a lot of knowledge and expertise concerning their company and what they need, which allows us to draft the requested permit applications in a quick and efficient manner.

I really value my current position in which I am basically working for two companies at the same time, and I trust that the fruitful collaboration between this client and Bilfinger will last for many more years to come.
