Successful entry into Indian market: Bilfinger Berger acquires industrial services provider Neo Structo

Bilfinger Berger has taken an important first step in the Asian market for industrial services, thus underscoring the 5-year strategy communicated a few days ago. With the acquisition of the Indian company Neo Structo in Surat, the Group has positioned itself in this dynamic and attractive growth market.

With 1,600 direct employees and an annual output volume of €60 million, Neo Structo is among the up and coming providers of maintenance, manufacturing and installation services for facilities in the process industry. Among the company’s customers are a number of major international conglomerates in the process industry which Bilfinger Berger also serves in other countries as well as large Indian companies in the sector. Neo Structo is highly profitable. Agreement has been reached with the seller, a private investment group, to keep details of the purchase price confidential.

India offers tremendous potential for Bilfinger Berger’s industrial services business. The country’s process industry is growing dynamically while at the same time the market for maintenance services is under-developed. “The acquisition of Neo Structo is an important building block in our strategic planning. The company will serve as a springboard for the further expansion of Bilfinger Berger’s business activities in India”, said Roland Koch, Chairman of the Executive Board at Bilfinger Berger SE. Neo Structo is active in all of India’s most important industrial regions and has a geographic focus on Gujarat State, the center of the Indian process industry.

With an output volume of over €3 billion, Bilfinger Berger Industrial Services is the largest German provider of repair and maintenance services for plants in the process industry. The company has a strong market position in Europe and in the United States. Bilfinger Berger aims to increase the share of international business and to further expand its range of services in this business segment.
