Feasibility Studies
With the help of Bilfinger, many factories have been realized globally. But what does it actually take to realize a fully operational factory?
Before going through different engineering phases to come to an operational factory, we start with an early business case approach and feasibility study. During an integrated workshop approach together with the customer, we combine a feasibility study with conceptual engineering, cost estimation and risk analysis. That way we can provide a clear picture for our clients about the feasibility of their plans including the estimated CAPEX costs at an early stage.
Conducting an early business case approach and feasibility study, including value engineering sessions where required, is crucial because at this stage we still have a lot of possibilities and influence with relatively low costs. With a complete feasibility study your next steps are clear. You are able to make an investment decision or enter the next engineering phase.
Basic Engineering & FEED
The next critical step is Basic Engineering – where your vision takes shape. We address essential questions:
- What is the Design Basis of your facility?
- Are the CAPEX and OPEX costs in line with the budget?
Our experts delve into every detail from risk management to precise cost estimation. Safety and compliance are priorities. Our consultancy team handles permitting, ensures all technical specifications align with regulations and focuses on constructability to ensure seamless execution.
By the end of the Basic Engineering phase, we deliver a complete engineering package with:

Project Execution: EPCm or Design & Build
Once a project reaches the implementation and commissioning phase, Bilfinger can support in the project execution. Depending on your wishes, there are two options we can offer: Engineering, Procurement & Construction management (EPCm) or Design & Build.
EPCm
With our turnkey service – Engineering, Procurement and Construction management (EPCm) package – we offer you an integrated, result-oriented team of consultants, engineers, cost experts, tender managers and construction supervisors.
An EPCm solution is especially suitable for large-scale multidisciplinary facilities. You want to pay particular attention to building quality, cost and operational excellence under a tight time schedule? We offer you support taking care of the management of the whole project.

Design & Build
If you opt for a Design & Build approach, Bilfinger will take care of the entire project execution. We provide detailed and construction engineering support whilst ensuring smooth coordination and execution. Our execution capabilities cover Piping & Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation, and Steel. We deliver civil engineering in-house and work with partners for the physical civil works.
