By combining expertise in engineering, maintenance, automation, offshore services and energy solutions, we deliver integrated capabilities that support customers throughout the entire asset lifecycle, both onshore and offshore.
While we now operate as one Bilfinger, our success is built upon the heritage, expertise and achievements of the companies that have become part of the Bilfinger family over the years. Each has played an important role in supporting UK industry, developing innovative solutions and establishing a reputation for technical excellence, safety and quality.

Bilfinger Industrial Services / Bilfinger Industrial Automation Services
(2013-2018)
In 2018, Bilfinger UK was formed via a merger of two of its core UK businesses: Runcorn based Bilfinger Industrial Services and Newton-le-Willows based Bilfinger Industrial Automation Services, resulting in a new business named Bilfinger UK, which created a turnover of over £180 million that consisted of over 2,500 employees across ten UK regional offices.
Bilfinger Industrial Services was one of the UK's leading providers of integrated technical services for the process industry, delivering design, construction and maintenance services.
Bilfinger Industrial Automation Services focused on increasing the efficiency of assets through automated systems and control solutions.
Bilfinger Salamis
(1973-2022)
In 2022, Bilfinger Salamis merged with Bilfinger UK to trade under the Bilfinger UK brand, creating one of the UK’s largest tier one contractors with a turnover of €400m, now consisting of 5,000 employees during peak periods and 14 onshore locations across key industrial hubs. The merger combined the onshore and offshore capabilities of the two businesses and positioned the company as a key contractor for delivering large renewable energy projects as the UK transitions to net-zero.
Bilfinger Salamis UK was an established provider of maintenance, modifications and operations services to the oil and gas, energy, petrochemical, renewables, nuclear and utilities markets covering onshore and offshore facilities across Europe.
nZero Group (Orbital Gas Systems and Thyson Technology)
(1980's-2025)
In 2025, Bilfinger UK expanded its engineering and maintenance capabilities through the acquisition of nZero Group, including its subsidiaries Orbital Gas Systems Ltd. and Thyson Technology Ltd. This strategic move added approximately 240 employees across Ellesmere Port, Staffordshire, and Bristol locations. The integration of nZero’s expertise further enhanced Bilfinger UK’s portfolio in Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls (EI&C), reinforcing its role as a leading provider of sustainable solutions in the process industry.

- The acquisition strengthened Bilfinger UK’s position in the gas and hydrogen sectors and supported its commitment to the UK’s net-zero targets.

Concol Systems Limited was formed and later renamed HG Group.
AT Controls was formed and later renamed to ATG.
Salamis (Marine and Industrial) Limited acquired by Bilfinger Berger Industrial Services.
O'Hare Engineering were acquired by Bilfinger Berger and renamed BIS O'Hare.
BIS O'Hare merged with our sister company BIS Salamis (onshore) to form BIS Industrial Services Limited.
ATG were acquired by the Bilfinger Industrial Services Group and renamed BIS AT.
HG Group were acquired by the Bilfinger Industrial Services Group.
BIS Industrial Services Limited changed its name to Bilfinger Industrial Services UK Limited.
BIS ATG and the HG Group were merged to become Bilfinger Industrial Automation Services Limited.
Salamis (Marine and Industrial) Limited rebranded as Bilfinger Salamis UK.
Bilfinger Industrial Services UK Limited & Bilfinger Industrial Automation Services Limited merged to become Bilfinger UK Limited.
Bilfinger Salamis UK Limited merged with Bilfinger UK Limited to trade under the Bilfinger UK brand.
