History

In 2018, Bilfinger UK was formed via a merger of two of its core UK businesses: Runcorn based Bilfinger Industrial Services and Newton-le-Willows based Bilfinger Industrial Automation Services, resulting in a new business named Bilfinger UK, which created a turnover of over £180 million that consisted of over 2,500 employees across ten UK regional offices.

• Bilfinger Industrial Services was one of the UK's leading providers of integrated technical services for the process industry, delivering design, construction and maintenance services.
• Bilfinger Industrial Automation Services focused on increasing the efficiency of assets through automated systems and control solutions.

In 2022, Bilfinger Salamis merged with Bilfinger UK to trade under the Bilfinger UK brand, creating one of the UK’s largest tier one contractors with a turnover of €400m, now consisting of 5,000 employees during peak periods and 14 onshore locations across key industrial hubs.

• Bilfinger Salamis UK was an established provider of maintenance, modifications and operations services to the oil and gas, energy, petrochemical, renewables, nuclear and utilities markets covering onshore and offshore facilities across Europe. 

The merger combined the onshore and offshore capabilities of the two businesses and positioned the company as a key contractor for delivering large renewable energy projects as the UK transitions to net-zero.
