- 5-year framework agreement with extension option
- Bilfinger convinces as solution provider: Efficient maintenance services for gas infrastructure from a single source
- Flexible deployment of up to 150 highly qualified specialists during peak times
Lower Saxony, Germany. ExxonMobil Production Deutschland GmbH (ExxonMobil) has extended its maintenance framework contract with Bilfinger for gas infrastructure located in the state of Lower Saxony. The contract covers extensive maintenance and repair work as well as plant modifications in the areas of electrical engineering, electrical instrumentation and control (EI&C) and mechanics on various process plants and has a term of five years, with the option of a further five-year extension. The contract extension is the result of a very successful business relationship between the energy company and the industrial services provider, which has existed in Germany for around 50 years. The current framework agreement has been in place for 20 years. The efficient and effective execution of the work is ensured by a large, multidisciplinary pool of Bilfinger specialists who are flexibly called upon at times of peak demand.
“The extension of this long-standing framework agreement underlines Bilfinger's position as a strong partner to the oil and gas industry and reaffirms both companies' commitment to the highest levels of quality, safety and efficiency,” says Thomas Schulz, Group CEO of Bilfinger. “As a leading industrial services provider, we have been ensuring for decades that our customers can focus on their core business while we optimize their maintenance costs and increase the productivity of their facilities.”
ExxonMobil Production Deutschland GmbH, based in Hanover, Germany, explores, develops, produces and processes natural gas and crude oil. As the largest natural gas producer in Germany, ExxonMobil makes an important contribution to the country's energy supply. Among other things, the gas drying plants are of great importance for the treatment of the natural gas produced in Lower Saxony. Bilfinger is responsible for the regular inspection of all components of these complex process plants, as well as for overhaul and repair work to ensure that the gas is effectively purified of accompanying substances.
In total, Bilfinger is looking after almost 140 above-ground and underground facilities as part of the contract. These include not only gas drying plants, but also compressor stations, pipeline systems and gas transfer stations. An average of 35 employees from Bilfinger Engineering & Maintenance GmbH are involved on a daily basis. If required, for example for major turnarounds, up to 150 specialists are available at peak times. The team consists of highly qualified experts from the fields of mechanics, electrical, EI&C, engineering, plant modification, repair and fabrication, as well as from the company's own pump and valve workshop.
“We are pleased to continue our strong and reliable partnership with Bilfinger and look forward to working together to keep our gas infrastructure fit for the future,” says Axel Weiß, ExxonMobil Managing Director and Production Manager. “The professional maintenance of our infrastructure is an important contribution to a secure energy supply.”
Thanks to Bilfinger's active involvement in the construction of many of the facilities covered by the maintenance and repair contract, the industrial services provider has extensive expertise and many years of experience in servicing them. The successes achieved in the areas of cost optimization and increased efficiency played a particular role in the extension of the framework agreement. These result from the comprehensive range of services that Bilfinger can offer as a one-stop solution provider. Bilfinger's on-time delivery and outstanding performance in the areas of health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ), which have been recognized by ExxonMobil in the past, also had an impact.
