Training Focus
Mechanical technicians maintain and commission mechanical equipment according to specified plans and standards. They are able to produce complex assemblies and individual workpieces. Their knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics and control technology enables them to identify and correct faults in systems or machines.
- Duration of apprenticeship: 3.5 years
- Training locations: Linz, Schwechat, Krems
- Also as a double apprenticeship in Krems: metal technology/mechanical engineering (H1) and electrical engineering/plant engineering (H3) - apprenticeship duration 4 years
- Vocational school: You will attend vocational school during your apprenticeship. School time is 10 weeks per apprenticeship year, 5 weeks in the final year.

Training Focus
The Welding Technician permanently joins metal parts using various welding techniques. He or she makes welds on containers, boilers, and machine parts, or makes welds during assembly. The importance of welding is underscored by the fact that at least one-third of all steel production is welded into consumer goods.

Training Focus
The Metal Technician fabricates and assembles steel and light metal structures and equipment. Knowledge of a wide range of processing methods is required, particularly in plant construction. His know-how ranges from various welding processes to hydraulics and pneumatics to CNC control technology and enables him, among other things, to troubleshoot systems, identify defects and repair them.

Training Focus
The machining technician is involved in the exciting shaping of components on mostly computer-controlled machine tools (drilling, turning, milling, grinding). He/she is responsible for the entire production process of a workpiece. He/she masters all the measuring instruments and technologies necessary for metalworking. Electronic controls and computer technology are an indispensable standard in order to meet the high quality requirements of our customers.

Training Focus
The Refrigeration Systems Technician installs, maintains, and repairs refrigeration systems used in the industrial sector. S/he also installs and commissions refrigeration and air conditioning systems. He/she troubleshoots, isolates, and corrects malfunctions.

Training Focus
Materials technicians take or make samples of materials to test their properties, such as density, elongation, tensile strength, hardness, and resistance to heat and cold. They use measuring instruments and apparatus to apply various test methods, document the test results, and evaluate them. The quality of materials (e.g. metals, plastics) can be improved on the basis of these tests and test methods.

The electrical engineer is responsible for a wide range of electrical, electromechanical and electronic work. Training Focus
In einem Projektteam setzt du als Konstrukteur:in all deine Kreativität und dein Verständnis für räumliche und technische Zusammenhänge ein, um mit deinen Kolleg:innen viele neue Ideen zur Konstruktion von Maschinen und Anlagen zu entwickeln.
Während deiner Ausbildung arbeitest du in einem Team an verschiedenen Projekten und entwickelst, modellierst und konstruierst Rohrleitungen, Stahlbauten und Maschinen. Neben der Ausbildung im praktischen Bereich (Zeichenprogramme, Zeichnungserstellung, Projektablauf), wird auch großer Wert darauf gelegt, dich im theoretischen Bereich (technische Grundlagen, statische Grundlagen, Werkstoffe, Normen, etc.) auszubilden und somit bestmöglich auf die Lehrabschlussprüfung und das weitere Berufsleben vorzubereiten.

Training Focus
The Industrial Mechanic is involved in the manufacture, maintenance, and monitoring of technical systems. He/she is involved in the installation, modification and commissioning of production systems. Machines and systems are the heart of industrial plants; they must function properly and continuously. The industrial mechanic carries out the necessary maintenance and repairs.
The Maintenance Mechanic keeps track of the entire production process. He/she makes sure that all machines can perform their tasks. In order to do this, it is necessary to know the structure of the production systems and machines in order to carry out repairs professionally.
The Precision Mechanic is responsible for the production of small parts. He/she assembles homemade components according to work schedules and technical drawings, mainly in the workshop.

Training Focus
The Electronics Technician plans, assembles, installs, maintains, and repairs electrical and electronic parts, components, and systems in plant and equipment, such as control and regulating systems, alarm systems, surveillance systems, electric doors, gates, and elevators, as well as industrial machinery and equipment, refrigeration and air conditioning systems, and power supply systems.
The Electronics Technician for Automation and Process Control builds and installs assemblies, devices, and system components for automation and process control equipment such as production systems, production lines, transport and conveyor systems, measuring and control equipment, and the like. He/she puts these machines and systems into operation, tests and adjusts them, measures electrical and process variables such as pressure, temperature, etc., and documents the results.

Students at a university or university of applied sciences can apply at any time for one of the advertised topics or propose a topic themselves. In addition to a curriculum vitae with photo, the application must include the high school diploma, the bachelor's degree (if already available), and a confirmation of enrollment for the current semester.
In the event of acceptance, the terms of cooperation will be set out in a contract. For the preparation of a diploma/master's thesis or dissertation in cooperation with Bilfinger, a confidentiality agreement (including the blocking of the written work) will be concluded with the student and the supervisor.
