Bilfinger’s Training and Competency Manager Appointed as ENSG Chair for Connected Competence

Bilfinger’s Training and Competency Manager, Stephanie Broadley, has been appointed as the Chair of the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board’s (ECITB) Employer Network Steering Group (ENSG) for Connected Competence. This position underscores Bilfinger’s longstanding commitment to excellence in training and competency within the industry.

Connected Competence is a vital, industry-led programme designed to ensure a consistent approach to skills development and competency assessment, enhancing workforce mobility and safety. As the new ENSG Chair, Stephanie will spearhead initiatives to enhance the standards and recognition of workforce skills across the industry, such as supporting the utilisation of the transient worker scheme, and collaborating with key stakeholders and Approved Training Providers (ATP).

Stephanie will also lead the Employer Onboarding process where she’ll ‘buddy’ new employers through the early stages of their implementation plans, ensuring an ongoing base level of technical competence for workers across the engineering construction industry to create a safer, more competent and transferable workforce.

Bilfinger has a long-standing partnership with the ECITB and the Connected Competence initiative, which has been instrumental in shaping and elevating the training and competency frameworks within the sector. Having previously won Collaboration Awards, the organisation’s joint efforts are consistently aimed at improving skill levels, safety standards, and overall workforce competence.

Stephanie said: “In the rapidly changing energy landscape, this level of competence creates a safe and flexible workforce capable of transitioning between sector seamlessly, breaking down barriers to mobility.

“I am honoured to take on the role of ENSG Chair for Connected Competence. As one of the leading employers in the industry, with a workforce of over 4000, our partnership with the ECITB and involvement in Connected Competence has always been a source of pride for Bilfinger UK.

“I look forward to furthering our mission to raise industry standards and ensure that our workforce remains among the most skilled and competent in the field.”

Andy Brown, Chief Operating Officer at the ECITB, said: “Bilfinger UK has been one of the main drivers for Connected Competence from its inception and a strong advocate of the programme.

“Stephanie has been an ever-present force in this, and I am delighted she has taken on the role of chair of the ENSG.  She has an excellent understanding of what the programme is aiming to achieve and the employers role in achieving these aims.

“She takes over the leadership of the employer network which was previously held by Keith Scott of Petrofac Facilities Management as Chair of the Delivery Group.  Keith has been instrumental in getting Connected Competence to where it is now and I would like to thank him for his hard work and commitment.”
