Living Our Bilfinger Values: Selina Reinsprecht

Ambition means setting high goals for yourself, your work, and your future."
Selina Reinsprecht (19) has completed her training as a steel construction technician at our site in Wels, making her the first woman there to pursue this career. Today, she works in pipe construction, bringing every weld to perfection with great precision and passion.
But Selina still has big plans: next year, she wants to catch up on her high school diploma, then get her master's degree and maybe even start a degree program. She sets ambitious goals for herself, strives for personal and professional development, and wants to deepen her technical expertise – maybe even in research and development one day.
Because Selina sets high standards – for herself, her work, and what lies ahead.
Selina, you are a steel construction technician at Bilfinger. What does your everyday work look like?
I currently work in pipe construction, mainly on what are known as circular welds – these are welds that connect pipe sections or pipes to other pipes or flanges. This requires a great deal of precision: the welds must be even and tight. My daily routine consists not only of welding, but also of preparatory steps, material preparation, inspection, and follow-up work.
What I particularly enjoy is that it's not a monotonous job: I'm on the move a lot and don't sit around all day. It's also an exciting field because it's not yet a typical female profession. I was the first woman at our site in Wels to complete this training.
At first, I had to prove myself a little. I wanted to show that I could do the same thing – and that I was just as enthusiastic about it. Today, that's no longer an issue: my colleagues support me, we work as a team, and we all pull together.
You mentioned that you want to develop professionally. What drives you and how are you achieving this goal?
I definitely want to stay in the technical field, but I also want to continue my education. Next year, I'll start my high school diploma, and after that I want to get my master's degree. I could also see myself studying something technical at university. I am particularly interested in research and development, for example in the field of welding technology.
It's important to me to set high goals for myself. I want to achieve something, continuously develop my skills, and deliver the best results. I attach great importance to doing my work conscientiously and cleanly - and at the same time, I welcome feedback that helps me develop further.
And to be honest, as a woman in this profession, I would also like to make a name for myself. I think it's a good feeling to show that you can assert yourself in a technical environment and achieve something if you are passionate about it.
Is there a project or moment that particularly inspired you?
Yes, that was my first girth weld. I remember how excited I was because I did it all by myself. Today, it's part of my everyday routine, but back then it was something special. I saw that it worked, that I could really do it. Moments like that stick with you because they show you how much you can learn and achieve in a short space of time.
