Rohit Java, 37, is one of around 500+ dedicated colleagues that work with us in the Mechanical & Maintenance team in the United Arab Emirates. As Operations Director, Rohit is responsible for our day-to-day operations in the country. In only a little more than a year as a member of #TeamBilfinger, he happened to be part of one of the biggest turnarounds for us in the Middle East to date.
“I joined at exactly the right moment in time, I think,” he says, highlighting the two factors that were the key to successfully managing this turnaround in his eyes: Our Dedication, which drives us to deliver beyond customer expectations, and our Team Spirit, which allows us to leverage our collective skills to achieve the best results.
What made this turnaround so special?
“The dimensions and technicalities of the turnaround that we handled earlier this year made it uniquely challenging and exciting at the same time. Mobilizing the necessary manpower with the relevant expertise was a huge task: The turnaround meant coordinating around 1,400 people on site, plus particularly demanding work on heavy rotating equipment. Long story short: We ended up finishing the project safely and ahead of our client’s schedule!”
What was the ‘recipe for success’ in your eyes?
“I overlook various aspects of the business such as health and safety, quality control, compliance and overall project performance. Across all these areas, I can confidently say that we have a uniquely strong work ethic at Bilfinger. We take immense pride in our commitment to operational excellence and our passion for continuous improvement. This drives us to deliver high-quality, sustainable solutions for our customers, enhancing the value and performance of their assets. Most of our core team have been part of the company for decades, they are loyal, committed and dedicated to our company’s and our customers’ success.”
How do you personally keep the team motivated?
“A little goes a long way: Celebrating our wins, employee recognition, and most importantly supporting each other during challenging times. Close interaction with the team in the office, workshop and on sites is especially important. Particularly here in the UAE, where we see people of various nationalities, it all begins with team spirit. Aligning our efforts and developing a strong work culture is one of our strongest attributes: bringing together the strengths of our diverse workforce allows us to unlock our full potential!”
