• Bilfinger appointed to provide end-to-end engineering and design services for a strategic jet-fuel pipeline supplying Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport 

• Pipeline is crucial for supporting airports expansion to the world's largest hub and to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply 

• Collaboration focusses on safety, quality, and operational efficiency, strengthening Dubai’s long-term aviation fuel infrastructure 

Dubai, United Arab Emirates. International industrial services provider Bilfinger was appointed by Emdad Aviation Fuel Storage FZCO (Emdad) – an affiliate of Emirates General Petroleum Company PJSC (Emarat) – to provide engineering and design services for a strategic jet-fuel pipeline in Dubai. The new pipeline will connect the existing Emdad fuel terminal in Dubai’s harbor to the fuel depot at the Al Maktoum International Airport, which is planned to become the world’s largest airport to date.  

Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) is currently undergoing a significant expansion, which will not only make it Dubai’s main airport but also the world’s largest hub in terms of capacity – with five runways, 200 departures per hour and 260 million passengers per year. The new strategic pipeline plays an important role in ensuring smooth operations, as it must guarantee an uninterrupted fuel supply to the airport. Due to the significantly higher capacity, the pipeline will have to transport more than 2.5 times as much fuel annually as the pipeline leading to the current Dubai International Airport (DXB).

The appointment of Bilfinger as engineering partner is a key step in strengthening Dubai’s long-term aviation fuel infrastructure and supply resilience.

Under the contract, Bilfinger will deliver end-to-end engineering services – covering all design, project management and installation stages in line with highest quality and safety standards – enabling Emarat’s operational use of the new asset.
