After 16 successful years: Prof. Hans Helmut Schetter to leave the Executive Board of Bilfinger Berger

Prof. Hans Helmut Schetter (61), after 16 years of successful work on the Executive Board of Bilfinger Berger, will leave the committee at the end of 2010 upon reaching the age limit.

The civil engineering graduate joined the Bilfinger Berger Group in 1990 after spending many years with Ed Züblin. In 1995 he was appointed to the Executive Board where his responsibilities included Human Resources and Technology as well as parts of both the German and international construction businesses. As Supervisory Board Chairman at Hydrobudowa-6 SA, which was acquired by Bilfinger Berger in 1994, he played an important role in driving the expansion of the Polish business. Prof. Hans Helmut Schetter served as Labor Director at the Bilfinger Berger Group from 2004 and, in this function, was most recently closely involved in the transformation from a stock company in accordance with German law to a European stock company.

Prof. Hans Helmut Schetter was a member of the German Construction Association's Collective Bargaining Commission for many years and also headed other important committees. As a member of the Presidium for the Economic Council of Germany’s Christian Democratic Party, he strongly advocated the concept of a social market economy.

Since the 1980's, Prof. Hans Helmut Schetter has been an active proponent for the qualified education and advancement of young talent. He has taken the view that academic work and professional practice should be closely connected. He has lectured at the Technical University in Darmstadt since 2000 and was named honorary professor in 2004. He is also Deputy Chairman of the University Council.

In 2006, Prof. Hans Helmut Schetter was awarded the Order of Merit with ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany for his socio-political commitment.

From January 1, 2011, the Executive Board of Bilfinger Berger consists of Herbert Bodner (Chairman), Joachim Müller (Chief Financial Officer), Joachim Enenkel, Klaus Raps and Thomas Töpfer.
