Bilfinger Berger lays foundation for first “one” project: New headquarters for Power Services in Oberhausen

Laying of the foundation stone for the new headquarters of Bilfinger Berger Power Services in Oberhausen: “It’s a good day for our city”, enthused Mayor Klaus Wehling. The new building represents the first time a project has been implemented on the basis of the new lifecycle product “one”. Under the “one” brand, Bilfinger Berger is the only company on the market to offer private clients a comprehensive package including design, construction and operation along with guaranteed cost security that also covers the usage phase.

“The significant appeal of the ‘one’ concept is also reflected in the fact that the new office building in Oberhausen is being financed by an external investor”, stressed Klaus Raps, Member of the Executive Board at Bilfinger Berger. “One” is consistently oriented toward the economic success of a building: forward-looking design with a view to all cost factors, the use of modern technology to save energy, the intelligent selection of high-quality and sustainable materials as well as a flexible overall concept lead to a fully optimized property with transparent, guaranteed operating costs. A high degree of environmental compatibility and long-term return are combined for a secure and valuable investment.

The design, construction and operation of the property is a joint project from several Group companies: the client is Bilfinger Berger Real Estate Management. Bilfinger Berger Building and Bilfinger Berger Facility Services are responsible for design, construction and operation. Plans for the building come from architects RKW Rhode Kellermann Wawrowski. Final details are currently being worked out with Sachsenfonds Group as investor. The investment volume amounts to about €30 million.

The building was designed in line with the latest sustainability standards and has already received a preliminary certificate in silver for its high quality from the German Sustainable Building Council. The five-storey, H-shaped construction has a particularly efficient floor space concept, variable usage possibilities and will offer premium workspace for about 500 employees over a total surface area of about 10,000 square meters.

In the spring of 2013, Bilfinger Berger Power Services will move from the Duisburger Straße to Oberhausen’s Europaallee, a sign of the company’s continued commitment to its roots in Germany’s Ruhr region. In the Group company Power Services, Bilfinger Berger has bundled its service offerings in the power plant sector. The company is a leading provider of repair, maintenance and efficiency enhancements for existing facilities as well as for the manufacture and assembly of components for power plant construction.
