Expanding Australia's highway network:
Bilfinger Berger wins major order valued at €310 million

Valemus Australia, Bilfinger Berger's Australian subsidiary, has won a further major order to expand the highway network in New South Wales: the company will design and build a 26-kilometer long section of the Hunter Expressway between the cities of Branxton and Kurri Kurri. The volume of the order is €310 million and the project will be completed in a period of 34 months. Work is scheduled to begin in March 2011.

The order includes extensive earthworks, road construction and civil engineering services. About four million cubic meters of earth will have to be moved to make way for the new four-lane highway. In addition, more than 20 bridges and numerous noise protection structures will also be built, as will rest stations and the required service facilities.

Bilfinger Berger's Australian subsidiary benefits from the country's investments in its transport infrastructure. Just recently, the company won orders for the expansion of the Pacific Highway in New South Wales and the Bruce Highway in Queensland.
