Bilfinger Berger: Chief Financial Officer Dr. Jürgen M. Schneider passes baton to Joachim Müller
Dr. Jürgen M. Schneider (62) hands over his position as Chief Financial Officer of Bilfinger Berger to Joachim Müller (49) at the end of the Company’s Annual General Meeting on May 7 in Mannheim.
Jürgen M. Schneider, who will end 19 years of successful Executive Board activity on July 31, 2009, played a key role in driving the international growth of the Company and its transformation from a construction company into a Multi Service Group. Both the development of the Australian business and the services activities are closely associated with his name. Today, both areas make significant contributions to Group earnings. He fostered close contact to the capital markets while at the same time maintaining a critical distance to short-term trends. This has provided a basis for Bilfinger Berger’s sound financial situation and healthy capital structure.
His retirement from professional life means that Jürgen M. Schneider will have more time for his varied personal interests. In addition to musical and cultural activities, these include honorary appointments at his alma mater, the University of Mannheim, where he is a member of both the University Council and the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association. On top of that, he has Supervisory Board mandates at renowned family companies. He will also be spending more time than before on the tennis courts, on the ski slopes and on his touring bicycle.
His successor, Joachim Müller, was appointed to the Executive Board on November 1, 2008. He is now responsible for Accounting, Finance, Controlling, Procurement, IT Management and, as was the case with his predecessor, is also a member of the Supervisory Boards of all major companies in the Bilfinger Berger Group.
