Stavanger, Norway. International industrial services provider Bilfinger was awarded a comprehensive framework agreement to deliver insulation, scaffolding and corrosion protection (ISP) services including rope access as well as supplementary services to Equinor’s onshore plants, and to be the main supplier at Kårtsø processing plant in Norway. This contract reaffirms the successful collaboration between Bilfinger and Equinor, spanning over decades, and underscores Bilfinger’s commitment to delivering comprehensive solutions from a single source.
The Kårtsø processing plant is the largest of its kind in Europe. It is operated by Gassco, with Equinor as the technical service provider. It plays a key role in the transport and processing of gas, condensates and light oil from major sites on the Norwegian continental shelf. As Equinor’s ISP supplier, Bilfinger will enhance the plant’s operational efficiency, ensure facility safety, and support sustainable practices across the customer’s onshore infrastructure. This includes optimizing insulation systems, improving scaffolding frameworks, and applying advanced corrosion protection solutions to facilitate increased energy efficiency, lower maintenance costs, and prolonged asset life cycles, while adhering to stringent environmental standards. Improving the plant’s energy efficiency allows Equinor to reduce fuel consumption, ultimately lowering CO2 emissions. The contract thus aligns with Bilfinger’s strategy to be customers’ number one in enhancing efficiency and sustainability.
Leif Helge Eriksen, Vice President ISP Offshore at Bilfinger Engineering & Maintenance Nordic says: “This framework agreement represents yet another milestone in our collaboration with Equinor. Bilfinger remains committed to delivering industrial services that meet the rigorous demands of Norway’s energy sector. Together, we’re building a more efficient and sustainable future for industrial operations in the region.”
The skilled team of professionals from Bilfinger Engineering & Maintenance Nordic will provide preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and assistance to other contractors on-site. The contract also encompasses project management work and turnaround activities, reflecting Bilfinger’s broad service capabilities. The overall contract has a fixed term of four years with two optional extensions.
With a strong track record in long-term cooperations, Bilfinger has been collaborating with Equinor for decades across various service areas and sites, including the LNG facility in Hammerfest since 2006. With its proven technical capabilities and deep industry experience, Bilfinger is well-positioned to deliver solutions that support the continued success of Equinor’s facilities.
