Thor Medical ASA is well underway with the construction of its first commercial plant for refining thorium for use in cancer treatment. Bilfinger Engineering & Projects in Porsgrunn holds the EPCM contract for the AlphaOne process plant at Herøya.
“An EPCM contract covers engineering, procurement, and construction management. In short: we ensure that the process operates optimally in an industrial facility,” says Sven Halvorsen, Bilfinger’s Project Manager for AlphaOne.
Thor Medical has now begun installing equipment at its first commercial isotope production facility in Herøya Industrial Park. The company has taken over parts of the building and installed the first storage tanks for thorium – an important milestone in the development of the plant.
