Powering Poland’s Circular Economy: Bilfinger Delivers End-to-End Insulation for Key Waste-to-Energy Facility

  • Bilfinger delivers comprehensive insulation services for Poland’s largest Waste-to-Energy (WtE) facility in Warsaw

  • Efficient end-to-end design, procurement, and assembly of insulation, covering approx. 22,000 m² of surface area

  • Collaboration with POSCO E&C and Doosan Lentjes strengthens Poland’s energy transition and circular economy goals

Krapkowice, Poland. International industrial services provider Bilfinger has completed a major industrial insulation contract at Poland's largest Waste-to-Energy (WtE) facility operated by municipal waste management company MPO Warszawa. Executed in collaboration with POSCO E&C and Doosan Lentjes from 2023 to 2025, the completion underscores Bilfinger's commitment to strengthening key energy transition initiatives while demonstrating exceptional operational efficiency.

Bilfinger’s scope included end-to-end thermal insulation services, ranging from engineering design and coordination to procurement and full installation. The contract scope comprised approximately 22,000 m² of insulated surface area, requiring the delivery of 31 truckloads of specialized insulation materials to the site.

The Warsaw WtE facility processes approximately 265,000 tons of waste per year and generates electricity and heat for tens of thousands of households, feeding both directly into the city’s power grid and district heating network. By converting municipal waste into energy, the facility plays a significant role in advancing Poland’s energy transition.

“The successful collaboration exemplifies Bilfinger’s capabilities and expertise to support sustainable infrastructure developments across Europe,” says Marek Machoń, Mechanical & Insulation Director at Bilfinger in Poland. “Our teams showed outstanding professionalism in responding to our customers’ evolving needs, delivering the scope safely, efficiently and to a high standard. We are proud to contribute to what is one of the most modern and largest plants of its kind in Europe.”

The successful completion of the insulation works represents a significant contribution to the reliability, efficiency and long‑term performance of Poland’s sustainable energy infrastructure – reinforcing Bilfinger’s role as a trusted partner for customers in the process and energy sectors across Europe.
