Meet our team at Bilfinger in Finland

At Bilfinger, our people are at the heart of everything we do. Below, two of our colleagues from Finland share their own experiences—what brought them to Bilfinger, how their careers have developed, and how teamwork and safety shape their everyday work. Meet Jussi Ramstedt and Miikka Jylhä as they talk about their roles, their growth, and what it’s like to be part of the Bilfinger community.

Interview with Jussi Ramstedt

Jussi Ramstedt works as a Branch Manager and, in practice, also as a Project Manager. His responsibilities include overall project management, project organisation tasks, resourcing, financial management and procurement.

How long have you been at Bilfinger, and how did you end up working here?

I first entered the industry at the age of 15 through a summer job and have stayed in the field ever since. During my studies, I worked only during the summers, and after graduating I started full‑time. I began working at the factory at the age of 18, where I worked as an installer.

I have been at Bilfinger from the beginning, as I originally worked at Are, and through the company acquisition I transferred to Bilfinger. I had a good feeling about the acquisition at the time, because I was interested in the industrial sector.

How has your career developed at Bilfinger?

My career has developed in many ways. Since 2012, I have completed several different professional qualification programmes, including a Vocational Qualification in Business Administration and a Vocational Qualification in Technology.

I have worked as a shop steward for white‑collar employees for a few years.
I also used to be part of Bilfinger’s Works Council, where representatives from different countries met a couple of times a year in Germany.

I have participated in trainings across Finland, where I have had the opportunity to meet colleagues and get to know people. Through this, I have built a network of different experts from whom I can ask for help or advice.

How would you describe the work community at Bilfinger?

Over the years, there have been various changes, but the atmosphere and feeling in the work community have remained the same. We do things together, and helping each other is a natural part of the work. The low hierarchy creates a strong team spirit. We work together at all levels.

How is Bilfinger’s safety culture visible in your work?

Safety is the number one priority. Safe working conditions are ensured at the sites. At a higher level, we make sure that no one has to perform unsafe work. Hazard reports are sent to management and then passed on to the customer. It is also a calling card to customers — safety is taken seriously.

To ensure safety, site orientation is important so that the customer’s safety criteria are understood, recognised and followed correctly.

Interview with Mikka Jylhä

Miikka Jylhä works as a mechanic and foreman (top man). As an installer, he handles a wide range of tasks such as mechanical work, connection work and cable pulling. Much of his work takes place inside walls and is not always visible. Miikka enjoys the job because he likes working with his hands, especially completing tasks from start to finish with high quality.

How long have you been at Bilfinger, and how did you end up working here?

I started at Bilfinger at the end of last year. I have been in the industry and worked as an installer before joining Bilfinger. Bilfinger was already a familiar company to me, but I decided to apply when I moved. After discussing the possibility of starting at Bilfinger with a former colleague, my interest grew even stronger.

What is it like to work at Bilfinger?

What I find interesting at Bilfinger is the variety of work, something I have already experienced even in a short time. As an installer, you learn something new every day. You receive training and instruction for your tasks, and there is always information or guidance available when needed.

At Bilfinger, responsibility is given in a balanced way, and you can always ask for help. Opportunities are provided, and no one is expected to have complete skills from the start.

How would you describe the work community at Bilfinger?

It is easy to become part of the work community. People are good and open, and you are welcomed quickly. At Bilfinger, you do not need to be a professional from day one — the work teaches you.

How is safety reflected in your work at Bilfinger?

Safety is the number one priority in the work. It is the first thing on your mind, and everything begins with safety in planning and anticipation.
