Recently, Bilfinger, in collaboration with Surface Dynamics AS carried out internal sandblasting of mudtanks on both Snorre A and Snorre B using the System T robot system. The task was performed efficiently with an impressive robot progress of up to 25 m² per day. A total of 460 m² was processed, with an internal tank height of 4 meters. A full 80% of the pre-treatment in the tanks was carried out using the System T robot from Surface Dynamics.
In general estimated effects of using this technology:
- 50% reduction in asset downtime compared to conventional workmanship.
- 95% reduction in personnel hours in high-risk working environments.
- 50 times higher level of documented surface details via data collection from robot.
- 30% reduction in execution costs to the customer.
