Bilfinger wins additional orders in Kuwait

  • Order volume of about €55 million
  • Multi-year service and maintenance contracts for Sabiya power plant
  • Expansion of long-standing cooperation with MEW

Bilfinger has received two new orders from Kuwait’s Ministry for Electricity and Water (MEW) with a total volume of €55 million. Both of the orders in the MMO segment relate to the Sabiya power plant in the North-East of the country, where Bilfinger had already received orders in the amount of approximately €35 million at the end of 2017. One of the new orders is a five-year service agreement for the mechanical maintenance of the power plant facilities and the seawater desalination plant in Sabiya. With the other order, Bilfinger has been commissioned to repair and replace the smokestacks at the power plant over the course of the next three years.

Tom Blades, CEO at Bilfinger: “The orders are important milestones for our growth in the Middle East. Our stringent integrity and safety standards were key factors in the contract award. We are looking forward to the successful continuation of our long-standing cooperation with our customer.”

The Bilfinger Middle East team in Kuwait has been commissioned with the execution of the orders. Bilfinger is among the Middle East’s leading service providers in the construction, maintenance, modernization and operation of industrial plants in the oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical, energy and water sectors. The company has been active in the Gulf region since 1968 and has branches in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman.
