In August, Bilfinger at Herøya welcomed 23 new apprentices in a variety of trades. They aim to achieve a trade certificate in traditional industrial disciplines, but the company also has apprentices in administrative fields.
– Once again this year, we are very fortunate with the recruitment of apprentices. The level is very high, says apprenticeship manager Bent-Sølve Hansen. – We receive applications from skilled students and see that the industry is an attractive career path for young people. After the school year starts in the fall, we get inquiries from schools wanting to visit us here at Herøya Industrial Park.
The development in recent years has shown that vocational education is becoming increasingly popular. Hansen is, of course, pleased with this. Many of the apprentices have been placed at Bilfinger as part of their schooling. This year’s group is a good mix of girls and boys, although Hansen wishes there were even more girls. – We have very good experiences with bringing girls into our trades. It creates diversity that is beneficial for the work environment.
In addition to the apprentices who started in August, Bilfinger has also welcomed 18 new apprentices in scaffolding, insulation, and industrial painting. These apprentices recently participated in introductory weeks in Stavanger and are now ready to contribute to exciting projects across the country this fall.
We are proud to facilitate professional development and help build competence for the future. We look forward to following all our apprentices on their journey toward a trade certificate and a future career in the industry.
