Anton Ståhl named Safety Champion of the Month

Being named Safety Champion of the Month is a great honor, recognizing not only compliance with safety rules but also leadership and a positive attitude. This month, Borealis has awarded Anton Ståhl, Supervisor in Piping at Bilfinger, the title for his outstanding safety work and dedication in a major project at Borealis’ polyethylene plant in Stenungsund.

A leader focused on safety

Anton has taken a clear leadership role in the project, showing strong commitment to safety. His efforts have been recognized by both Borealis managers and colleagues who have seen him in action on site.

“It feels fantastic to receive this award, but I really want to highlight that it’s a team effort”, says Anton.

A major commitment

The project at Borealis’ polyethylene plant is one of the largest investment projects currently underway at Borealis. The goal is to install new piping to increase production capacity for XLPE material, a key insulation component in power cables. The project runs until March or April next year and involves multiple stakeholders.

Bilfinger has played a key role in the project, initially within Electrical and Instrumentation, and now within Piping.

“It’s a large-scale project with tight deadlines, but safety has always been our top priority,” says Anton.

The project was awarded to Bilfinger on short notice, which brought certain challenges. Despite this, safety has never been compromised.

“We’ve worked hard to meet the demands while keeping safety front and center,” Anton adds.

His colleague Per Mellgren, who works in HSE support, comments:

“Anton has truly embraced Bilfinger’s Life Saving Rules and ensured they are followed in practice. That makes me really proud.”

Safety in practice – part of everyday work

Anton and his team work systematically to ensure a safe work environment. Every morning, toolbox meetings are held to review the day’s tasks, reflect on the previous day’s work, and identify potential risks.

“It’s the most important meeting of the day. Everyone gets a chance to raise questions, and we make sure there’s a shared understanding of the tasks and risks,” Anton explains. He also makes a point of being present on site to follow up on the work.

A recognition for the whole team

Anton sees the award as recognition for the entire team.

“It’s not just my achievement — it’s the group’s. We’ve worked together for a long time and built a strong foundation of safety awareness and trust,” he says.

Per confirms this, noting that even when Anton isn’t on site, the team is able to respond to questions and follow safety procedures in an exemplary way.

Anton Ståhl is a clear example of how strong leadership and consistent focus on safety can make a real difference. His work and dedication are an inspiration to the entire industry.
