Challenge & Solution

For the client on two existing furnaces with a total steam production of 260 t/hr we installed in totally 12 Low NOx burners in the bottom of the furnaces. As Bilfinger Thermeq, we developed a tailor-made combustion solution. We designed the burners, fuel skids and burner control systems in such a way that the applicable fuel blend (fuel gas, natural gas and other waste streams) can be combustioned in all applicable cases while meeting the specified emission limits.
Because of available space at site, we developed a smart site erection plan to complete the site works within the turnaround period.

Scope of work
  • Engineering (conceptual, basic, detail, process, mechanical and E&IA).
  • Purchase/delivery of all necessary raw materials and equipment for the burners, fuel skids and FGR system.
  • Production in our modern workshop of the burners, fuel skids, fuel piping and FGR ducting (incl. NDT, preservation, packaging & transport). 
  • Site erection (incl. NDT, hoisting & lifting).
  • Commissioning.
Key Figures
  • Burners installed in the bottom of the furnaces, H2 used as fuel gas and air preheating also implemented with air preheater.
  • Maximum capacity main burners 10 MW per burner.
  • Fuel composition fuel gas consisting of; H2 (30 vol%), CH4, N2, C2H4, furthermore natural gas used also.
  • Emissions (mg/nm3) achieved; NOx (as NO2) < 100, CO < 50, Particles < 5 and HC < 50.
  • Project execution according to our specific Bilfinger FEED project approach. Which means an integrated project approach from Conceptual Engineering to Basic Engineering to Project Execution (detail engineering, materials/equipment, production, site erection and commissioning).
