Bilfinger GreyLogix is currently helping young refugees from Afghanistan and Iran enter the German job market. For two years, the Flensburg-based company has offered refugees qualification opportunities, working student jobs and apprenticeships, among other things.
Morteza Hatami has lived in Germany for seven years and is now in the third year of his apprenticeship. “I really like the company because from the very beginning it was made clear that there is no place for racism. Employees are there for each other and support each other,” says Morteza. “I hope that I can successfully complete my apprenticeship as an electrician for information and system technology and that I can have a better life in the future.” Morteza fled Afghanistan, where his village was controlled by the Taliban and he was no longer able to go to school.
Future specialists Mohammad Ehsan Amini and Mohammad Hossiani, who have been living in Germany for two years, have just passed their entry-level qualification “Electrical Technology - Manufacturing and Maintenance of Electrical Devices and Wiring”. They are starting further training immediately afterwards.
“We want to give young people an opportunity by providing them with the qualifications they need to start a career”, says Jörg Gerke, Personnel Development Manager and Head of Training at Bilfinger GreyLogix. The company offers diverse training opportunities, for example as an electrician for information and system technology, an electrician for operating technology, a plant mechanic or an IT specialist for system integration.
