Living Our Bilfinger Values: Fareha Nasim

We’re committed to continuous learning and innovation."
Fareha Nasim, 27, graduated from university as an Electrical and Electronics Engineer in 2020 and joined #TeamBilfinger as an intern not long after. Four years later, she’s happy to be working with us as a Functional Safety and Cybersecurity Consultant Engineer, which allows her to combine the two worlds of consulting and engineering. Based in the United Arab Emirates, the biggest part of her job is supporting customers from the oil & gas industry.
In Fareha’s role, the value of Accountability – which includes never compromising on safety – is, by design, her constant companion. On a more personal level, however, there is also another value that immediately comes to mind: the determination to keep learning about our customers, their industries, about new technologies and digital opportunities – in short: Knowledge.
Where do you see opportunities to grow and learn?
“I am part of the HSE Consultancy in the Middle East. Staying up to date is vital for our team: Digitalization is continuously reshaping our world and this is having a huge impact on both our own operations and on our customers. Digitalization means reshaping safety measures and moving cybersecurity right into the center of attention. In order to provide our customers with the best possible support, we need to be committed to continuous learning and innovation. That’s how we empower them to adapt, grow, and thrive alongside us.”
What are the most important developments you are seeing right now?
“Definitely the rise of artificial intelligence. Our clients are increasingly including AI technology in their plants. While it leads to efficiency and even quality gains, it also comes with new risks that we need to take into consideration, for example when conducting a safety study for our customers. The field of AI is still rather young and international regulations are under development.”
How do you keep up with these constant changes?
“I use a lot of online resources to educate myself. Beyond that, I am in regular conversations with colleagues about how to best make use of these resources and how to further automate processes. What really helps is that there is a constant nature of evolving within Bilfinger – not only in our department. You are encouraged to think outside the box and beyond your job description.
“It is exactly this access to opportunities and growth that I have been particularly thankful for during my career journey here. The steady determination to keep learning is not only a huge benefit for me personally, but also a huge benefit for our customers.”
