Direct Fired Heater for Chemical Plant

Customer:

Leading global chemical compay

Location:

The Netherlands

The Netherlands
Markets:
EnergyChemicals & Petrochemicals
Scope:

  • Challenge & Solution
    • On site, the customer has several direct fired heaters in operation to raise the supplied steam temperature coming from the furnaces up so that it can be used as necessary process steam for its production processes.

    • An existing old direct fired heater was at the end of its lifetime and had to be replaced with a new one to ensure reliable steam supply and business operation

    • Bilfinger Thermeq designed and built a tailer-made new direct fired heater smart constructed from membrane walls so that it could be produced, transported and installed as a packaged unit with minimal assembly effort, an very important customer request. Furthermore emissions and turn-down were improved, which were other client demands.

  • Scope of work
    • Engineering (conceptual, basic, detail, process, mechanical and E&IA).

    • Purchase/delivery of all necessary raw materials and equipment for the direct fired heater with own designed burners and auxiliary equipment like skids, valves, stack, ducting and piping.

    • Production in our modern workshop of the direct fired heater and burners (incl. NDO, hydrotesting, NoBo, preservation, packaging & transport).

    • Commissioning.

  • Key Figures
    • Direct fired heater produces 140 t/hr superheated steam from 475°C at 90 barg. Burners fired with Fuel Gas (FG).

    • Tremendous optimization of the client’s reliability, profitability and sustainability and short erection time at site.

    • Project execution according to our specific Bilfinger FEED project approach. Which means an integrated project approach from Conceptual Engineering to Basic Engineering to Project Execution (detail engineering, materials/equipment, production, site erection and commissioning).
