How your apprenticeship with us works
An apprenticeship with #TeamBilfinger helps you develop both professionally and personally: with real tasks, dedicated trainers and a team that supports you. You’ll get to know different areas of the business, develop your strengths and gradually grow into your role. Our apprenticeship roadmap shows you exactly what your journey will look like.
Step 1 – Arrival & Orientation
You’ll get to know your workplace, your team and your trainers, and settle in step by step. There will be induction days, your first tasks, and you’ll start at vocational college.
Step 2 – The basics of your profession
You’ll switch between the company, vocational college and, where applicable, partner companies. This is where you’ll lay the foundations: understanding the theory, trying out the practical aspects, and keeping a logbook.
Step 3 – Mid-term exam
Around halfway through, you’ll show what you’ve learnt. The mid-term exam helps you assess your progress and prepare for the next section.
Step 4 – Advanced Study & Projects
Things get more technical: you’ll get to work on more challenging tasks, be part of projects, and focus on preparing for your final exam.
Step 5 – Final exam
Theory, practical assessment and, where applicable, an interview: Now is your chance to show what you’re made of and secure your professional qualification.
Step 6 – Professional qualification: what next?
Once you’ve passed your exam, you’ll discuss your next steps with your trainers: permanent employment, areas of work and career opportunities within #TeamBilfinger.

Ask questions. Start safely
Do you have any questions about apprenticeships at Bilfinger? Here you’ll find the most important answers – all in one place.
To get started, simply send us your CV, your most recent school report and a short cover letter.
If we need any further documents, we will of course let you know.
This is how the process works:
- Your application will be reviewed by the HR department and our trainers.
- Invitation to an interview – depending on the role or location, this may also include an applicant day, a short practical test or an assessment test.
- Feedback from us and – if it’s a good fit – an offer.
If everything goes well and you receive an offer, we will draw up your training contract. You will receive this, along with all the important documents, via our Shared Service Centre.
Please return everything in full and in the specified format so that we can prepare for your start in good time.
If you’re under 18, you’ll require an initial medical examination before you start (§32 JArbSchG). We need this certificate so that your contract can be registered with the Chamber.
You’ll receive the letter and information regarding the examination along with your documents. In addition, your parents or guardians will sign the apprenticeship contract together with you.
It’s best to send everything back to us as soon as possible. We can only register you with the Chamber, inform the vocational school and prepare for the start of your training once we have received everything. If anything is missing, we’ll get in touch with you straight away.
With us, you’ll learn on the job, at vocational college and through digital resources. For this, you’ll be given a tablet.
You can use it, for example, to learn with Simpleclub. The tool offers study plans, videos, quizzes and virtual flashcards.
Quick checklist before your training starts
- Have you returned all the contract documents (including all attachments)?
- If you’re under 18: Have you had your initial medical examination and submitted the certificate?
- If necessary: Is your residence permit valid / have you applied for an extension?
- Have you got your ID ready for check?
