Mannheim, Germany. International industrial services provider Bilfinger is demonstrably forging ahead with the implementation of its sustainability strategy. The renowned rating provider EcoVadis has once again recognized the company with its gold medal for sustainable, ethical and responsible business practices. The latest result puts Bilfinger in the top 5 percent of companies evaluated by EcoVadis worldwide in 2024. Within its own industry, Bilfinger ranks among the top 1 percent of companies analyzed by EcoVadis.

EcoVadis bases its assessment on the detailed collection, analysis and validation of sustainability data that illustrates the company’s performance in the four key categories environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. Within the scope of this process, EcoVadis relies on internationally recognized standards including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the Global Compact and the ISO 26000 standard. This comprehensive assessment allows companies to fully understand their sustainability performance and to systematically improve it.
In the most recent rating, Bilfinger received 80 out of a possible 100 points, an overall improvement of 10 points compared to the previous year. The industrial services provider was able to significantly improve its performance in all four categories. In the environment category, it improved from 80 to 90 points; in labor and human rights, from 70 to 80 points; in ethics, also from 70 to 80 points; and in sustainable procurement, from 50 to 60 points. The basis for this rating is provided by reliable information from verified sources, including internal company documents, certificates from third-party companies and data that is publicly available.
Sustainability is a cornerstone of Bilfinger’s Group Strategy and is firmly embedded in the internal Code of Conduct. The company has been reporting annually on its sustainability activities since 2011 and each year prepares a progress report as part of its membership in the UN Global Compact. Last year, Bilfinger increased the share of services that make a significant contribution to its customers’ sustainability by 12 percent while simultaneously reducing its own greenhouse gas intensity on a revenue basis by 3 percent in Scopes 1 and 2.
