Prague, Czech Republic. International industrial services provider Bilfinger is expanding its engineering business in the Czech Republic through a personnel transition agreement with McDermott, a leading provider of engineering, procurement and construction solutions for the energy industry. Effective December 31, 2024, this strategic agreement will integrate around 200 employees from McDermott’s Brno office into Bilfinger Engineering & Maintenance Central Eastern Europe (Bilfinger E&M CEE).
As a result of the transition, Bilfinger’s engineering team in the region will grow to nearly 400 engineers, making it the largest company in its sector within the Czech Republic. Under Bilfinger, the transferred customer relationships will be continued seamlessly.
“The Brno office has long been recognized for its high-quality plant engineering and expertise in carbon capture and hydrogen. This integration is a perfect match with Bilfinger’s strategy and expansion plans in Central Eastern Europe, strengthening our service offerings in the process industry. We look forward to welcoming the new colleagues to our team,” says Jaromír Kříž, President Bilfinger E&M CEE.
The new colleagues supplement Bilfinger’s core markets such as Chemical & Petrochemical, Oil & Gas and Energy. It is a natural expansion of the existing collaboration between McDermott and Bilfinger, such as the recent award of a master services agreement for sustainable fuel facilities in the UK with Bilfinger as the solution partner. The transition will also add further expertise in hydrogen projects to Bilfinger’s existing international hydrogen portfolio, strengthening Bilfinger’s position as No. 1 for customers in enhancing efficiency and sustainability.
