Braunschweig, Germany. International industrial services provider Bilfinger has signed a three-year framework contract with BS Energy (Braunschweiger Versorgungs-AG & Co. KG) covering Owner’s Engineering and inspection services for their existing combined heat and power (CHP) plants in Braunschweig. The aim of the collaboration is to ensure long-term security of energy supply and to optimize energy generation in terms of efficiency and sustainability.
Based on the assignment, Bilfinger will bear technical and planning responsibility for modifications, modernization, and expansion of the CHP plants across all trades on behalf of the energy supplier BS Energy. As an Owner’s Engineer, Bilfinger provides advice and support with engineering expertise throughout the entire plant life cycle, while ensuring quality, cost control, and adherence to schedules in the best interests of the customer. These measures are intended to significantly reduce annual CO2 emissions and increase the energy efficiency of heat generation.

BS Energy is pursuing the goal of becoming greenhouse gas neutral by 2045 and is relying on a mix of renewable energies, district heating expansion, geothermal energy, and hydrogen. Around 35% of the heat already comes from renewable sources today – the target is to reach 100% in Lower Saxony by 2040.
