- Bilfinger highlights commitment to the highest compliance standards
- Certificate awarded by TÜV Nord at Bilfinger’s headquarters in Mannheim
- Standardization and adherence to compliance processes enable efficiency and sustainable growth in line with Group Strategy
Mannheim, Germany. Global industrial services provider Bilfinger has been certified for its Compliance Management System in accordance with ISO 37301. The certification, which is awarded to Bilfinger for the first time, highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to the highest compliance standards and ethical business practices. Various strategically important Bilfinger sites in Europe, North America and the Middle East had been audited to demonstrate the successful operational implementation of the Compliance Management System (CMS). On October 7, TÜV Nord, an independent certification organization, handed over the official certificate at Bilfinger’s headquarters in Mannheim.
ISO 37301 is an internationally recognized standard introduced in 2021, which details the framework conditions and processes of an effective CMS in companies. The certification provides partners, customers and investors with transparency regarding the adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, the efficient use of resources and the minimization of risks.
“The importance of compliance is constantly increasing worldwide. Today, honesty and integrity are decisive success factors for companies in the EU and many other regions. ISO 37301 defines an internationally recognized standard that confirms the implementation and continuity of Compliance Management Systems. I am delighted to congratulate Bilfinger on the successful audit,” says Wolfgang Wielpütz, Managing Director of TÜV NORD CERT. “At several of their international sites, we were able to see for ourselves that the topic of compliance is deeply rooted in the company. Not only does the CMS actively involve all employees, it is also highly accepted – the perfect starting point to successfully maintain the processes in the future.”
Compliance as a key component of the corporate identity
With the new certification, Bilfinger is making its commitment to compliance even more visible to its stakeholders. Adherence to the highest standards as well as the continuous development of internal processes have been part of Bilfinger’s identity for many years – regardless of TÜV certification. Bilfinger recently emphasized the value of standardization, bundling and risk minimization as a key component of its Group Strategy:
“Operational Excellence is one of two strategic levers to establish ourselves as the number one for our customers in enhancing efficiency and sustainability,” says Thomas Schulz, Bilfinger Group CEO. “Standardized processes play an important role in this regard: They allow us to enhance our efficiency and profitability while minimizing potential risks in a targeted manner. We thus create both transparency for our stakeholders and a safe working environment based on a sense of trust.”
Stefan Sannert, Director Compliance-Management-System & Trade Compliance at Bilfinger, also highlights the value of internal cooperation when it comes to the implementation of these processes: “The TÜV certification confirms the success of our ongoing measures. And this success is clearly a team success: To ensure strict compliance standards and sustainable corporate growth, we cooperate across functions within the Group. We take a comprehensive approach and include all legal and regulatory requirements in our considerations. And we will continue to look for opportunities to further improve in the future.”
In addition to the definition of guidelines and processes, the implementation of the CMS at Bilfinger is supported by a number of different IT tools. This ensures compliance with various new regulatory requirements such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act. Last but not least, Bilfinger’s CMS significantly contributes to its positive corporate culture.
Beyond ISO 37301, Bilfinger is also certified according to the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System and the SCC certificate (Safety Certificate Contractors Petrochemicals, SCCP-SCC-VAZ).
