Preem
A refinery shutdown is an intense situation where thousands of people must carry out thousands of demanding tasks in a short period of time. Every hour the refinery is standing still costs a significant amount of money. The client, Preem, must be able to trust that the supplier can perform under extreme time pressure with maintained quality—even two years in advance.
About the project
Nordic Mechanical played a key role in the work. With a strong focus on safety, we managed to almost completely avoid accidents, despite a total of 500,000 working hours. The result was successful, with 95 percent of all tasks completed on time. This was largely thanks to thorough preparations and effective logistics. As the work is now concluded, it can be noted that during Nordic Mechanical’s 130,000 working hours in the shutdown, 2,381 risk analyses were completed.
A total of 287 incidents and deviations were reported, 149 safety inspections were carried out, and 600 maintenance work orders were handled.
Preem can now enjoy a more energy‑efficient refinery with lower emission levels and higher efficiency.
