Bilfinger Berger to build Australia’s largest hotel

Bilfinger Berger is continuing its successful development in the Australian building construction market. The Group has received an order for the turnkey construction of Australia’s largest hotel, to be built in Melbourne. The project, with a volume of €150 million, will expand the Crown Entertainment Complex by 660 rooms and suites. The 27-floor structure on the Yarra River will be open to international vacationers and conference participants from the middle of 2010. Bilfinger Berger has already built the Promenade Hotel, recently recognized as the best business hotel in Australia, on the grounds of the leisure, shopping and event complex.

In the Building and Industrial business segment, Bilfinger Berger achieved an output volume of €2 billion in 2007, €850 million of which was generated in Australia. “In the Australian building construction market, we are benefiting from continuing strong demand and good economic conditions and, on top of that, we have good quality in our order backlog,” says Herbert Bodner, Chairman of the Executive Board at Bilfinger Berger.

Bilfinger Berger is one of the leading contractors in the Australian building construction market. The Group's projects in Melbourne are shaping the face of the city and include the Melbourne Museum and the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.
