Expansion of Industrial Services in the United Kingdom:
Bilfinger Berger acquires O’Hare Engineering
Bilfinger Berger is expanding its Industrial Services business for the process industry to the United Kingdom: With the takeover of O'Hare Engineering, the Group has acquired an established British provider of repair and maintenance services for production facilities. Both sides have agreed to keep the purchase price for the family-owned company confidential. With about 600 employees, O'Hare generates an output volume of over €60 million. From the beginning, the company makes a positive contribution to Bilfinger Berger’s net profit and achieves a return on capital employed well above the cost of capital.
The company, based near Manchester, carries out 80 percent of its business on the basis of long-term framework agreements. The focus of its activities are in mechanical engineering as well as electronic measurement and control technology. Within the scope of this focus, services are bundled together to create solutions tailored to the needs of the client.
The acquisition secures entry into the market for Bilfinger Berger Industrial Services and opens up new growth potential. Bilfinger Berger has been market leader in the repair and maintenance of offshore platforms in the North Sea since the acquisition of the British Salamis Group in 2006. "The combination of O'Hare and Salamis provides us with an excellent market position in the United Kingdom", emphasized Herbert Bodner, Chairman of the Executive Board at Bilfinger Berger during the Company's Annual General Meeting in Mannheim.
