Excellent Response to Bilfinger Berger Award
Prognos Institute analyzing contributions from 17 countries
Jury under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Klaus Töpfer to select winners

Response to the Bilfinger Berger Award, which was started for the first time in August 2006, has been excellent: experts from 17 countries have contributed 58 studies on exemplary solutions in the complex web of interaction between society, business and government.

"The goal of the first stage has been reached. We have managed to attract the interest of international experts. The contributions cover a diverse range of subjects and the quality is impressive", commented Herbert Bodner, Chief Executive Officer of Bilfinger Berger AG, on the submission phase.

In the next stage, the renowned Prognos Institute will analyze the studies and assess the future potential of the solutions they describe as well as the degree to which these solutions can be transferred to Germany. An independent jury under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Klaus Töpfer will then select the winners of the Bilfinger Berger Award.

On the basis of the international solutions presented, Prognos will formulate theses designed to provide new impetus for the discussion on social, economic and political issues in Germany. They will be presented, together with the results of the Award, at a press conference in Berlin on August 30, 2007. A book with the winning studies, along with several other contributions, is also being planned for publication. The degree to which the solutions can be transferred to Germany will be discussed at a symposium in Berlin on October 8, 2007 with representatives from the worlds of politics, business and public administration.
