Takeover of the Ahr Group:
Bilfinger Berger expands Facility Services into the attractive hospitals sector

With the takeover of the Ahr Group in Oberhausen, Bilfinger Berger expands its successful services business into the attractive hospitals sector. The company is specialized in integrated services in health care and oversees about 200 hospitals and nursing homes in Germany. It had an output volume of more than €60 million in 2005. The previous owner, Markus Ahr, will continue as Managing Director of the company. Both sides have agreed to keep the purchase price confidential. Completion of the transaction is dependent on the approval of the anti-trust authorities.

The Ahr Group, which was founded more than one hundred years ago, concentrates on facility management and patient oriented services for clinics. The company's close ties to its customers have developed over many years. With the acquisition of the Ahr Group, Bilfinger Berger gains wide access to the dynamically growing market for services in the health care sector. On this basis, the Group will significantly expand its position in demanding technical and commercial facility services to this sector, too.

Bilfinger Berger increased its output volume in the field of Facility Services to nearly €600 million last year. In the still young Services segment, which also includes the Industrial Services units, output volume of €2.3 billion was achieved. This segment makes an important profit contribution to the Group and is a focus of strategic corporate development. In 2006, Bilfinger Berger expects further growth in output volume and earnings in the Services segment.

Only recently, the Group took an important step in expanding its facility services business in Switzerland with the takeover of 80% of the shares in Serimo Holding in Basel. The company is the largest independent commercial facility services provider in the country, offering commercial services as well as portfolio and asset management.
