Public-Private Partnership in Germany: Bilfinger Berger to finance, design, build and operate eight schools in Halle

Within the framework of a public-private partnership, Bilfinger Berger is taking on the modernization and construction of eight schools in Halle, Germany. The Group, together with a regional partner, will finance, design, build and, over a period of 25 years, operate a total of 11 buildings. The investment volume for the project amounts to €45 million. The first schools will go into operation in August 2008 with the rest to follow the year after.

In addition to Wolfgang Tiefensee, Federal Transportation Minister and Jens Bullerjahn, Finance Minister in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, numerous representatives from the world of politics and business are taking part in the ceremonial contract signing on December 15, 2006.

Bilfinger Berger has been internationally successful with concessions projects in public-sector building. In Germany just recently, the Group received the order to realize the Justice Center Chemnitz, home of the municipal court and the state attorney's offices. The project includes the design, financing and construction as well as operation over a period of 20 years. In August 2006, the district administration office in Unna was festively handed over to its tenant and will now be operated by Bilfinger Berger for the next 25 years. Internationally, the focus of the PPP business in building construction is in the United Kingdom and Australia. In its concessions portfolio there, the Group has a number of projects in the education and health care sectors as well as in the correctional facility system.
