Prof. Hans Helmut Schetter receives the Cross of Merit on Ribbon
Prof. Hans Helmut Schetter (57), member of the Executive Board at Bilfinger Berger AG, has been awarded the Cross of Merit on Ribbon from the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his extraordinary socio-political commitment.
Hans Helmut Schetter has been active in the Wirtschaftsrat der CDU for over 15 years and has belonged to the national executive since 2003. This association has made it its task to bring practical, entrepreneurial experience to the political scene, thus assuming a significant degree of responsibility for the shape of economic and social policy in Germany. In addition, Hans Helmut Schetter has been a member of the board of Stiftung Bauwesen for many years and chairman since 2005. It is the goal of this foundation to create awareness for the unique commitment of construction engineers to society as a whole. Hans Helmut Schetter has also dedicated himself intensively to the promotion and recruitment of next-generation engineers. In this context he has taken a teaching position at the Technical University in Darmstadt. There, it is of particular importance to him to closely link scientific theory and professional practice. In 2004, he was made honorary professor at the university.
Hans Helmut Schetter has been a member of the Executive Board at Bilfinger Berger since 1995. His areas of responsibility include domestic building, road construction, the Company's subsidiaries in France, Poland and the United States as well as technology and personnel. Through the activities he pursues on an honorary basis, he represents Bilfinger Berger with a high degree of commitment in the socio-political debate.
