Bilfinger Berger Selling Engineering Company GKW
Bilfinger Berger is further expanding its international activities in the construction and equipping of water and sewage treatment plants. In order to avoid any potential conflicts of interest, the Group is selling GKW Group, a company which acts as an independent consultant for public authorities in this sector. The buyer of the GKW Group is the Finnish company Jaakko Pöyry Group, a leading international engineering firm with an annual turnover of €470 million. The purchasing price is €6.3 million. The takeover is conditional pending the approval of the German anti-trust authorities.
GKW generates an annual output volume of about €30 million and employs 270 people. The integration into the Jaakko Pöyry Group opens up good development perspectives for the company because it will profit tremendously from the international network of the new parent company.
As a Multi Service Group, Bilfinger Berger supplies comprehensive solutions, both in Germany and internationally, in the areas of real estate, industrial services and infrastructure. In addition to the building activities, the range of products and services reaches from development, planning and financing to maintenance and operation. The focus of the strategic alignment is the continuing development of the Services segment, the internalization of the Group's activities as well as the addition of high-yield projects to the Public Private Partnership portfolio.
