Interim Report at March 31, 2004
- Operating result, earnings before taxes and net profit improve
- Higher output volume and order backlog
- Further growth in output volume and earnings planned
"In the first quarter of 2004, Bilfinger Berger continued the positive development of last year," Executive Board Chairman Herbert Bodner said at the company's Annual General Meeting in Mannheim on May 26, 2004. "The operating result, earnings before taxes and net profit show an improvement over the corresponding prior-year period. This confirms the forecast of higher earnings for the full year 2004," he declared.
First-quarter output volume increased by 18 percent to €1,354 million, while the order backlog rose by 13 percent to €6,254 million. Orders received in the total amount of €1,333 million attained a level approximately equal to output volume.
Herbert Bodner was confident about the Group's prospects for the rest of the year. "Following the increases in output volume of the past years, we are again planning a significant increase for 2004, to €6 billion," he said. "We anticipate that operating results and earnings before taxes will rise by a disproportionately higher rate. The net profit will also surpass the adjusted figure for the past financial year after elimination of one-time factors."
