Bilfinger Berger strengthens industrial services: Rheinhold & Mahla reports major expansion of operations in Poland

The Bilfinger Berger Group's industrial services specialist, Rheinhold & Mahla, has further expanded its presence in Eastern Europe by entering a long-term framework agreement to carry out €80 million in maintenance services on five heat- and power-generating plants in the Polish capital Warsaw. The client, EW S.A., is the area's biggest energy supplier and a unit of Sweden's Vattenfall group.

With the deal, Rheinhold & Mahla becomes the leading provider of industrial services in Eastern Europe. Until now, its activities in the region have been concentrated in Hungary and the Czech Republic, where Rheinhold & Mahla's expertise has ensured the trouble-free operation of major petrochemical facilities.

Services have become an additional, central element of Bilfinger Berger's business activities. In 2003, the Services business segment delivered about a quarter of the Bilfinger Berger Group's output volume and more than 45% of its operating profit.
