Major contract with a total volume of €210 million: Bilfinger Berger to build waste processing center in Paris

Bilfinger Berger and its French subsidiary, Razel, are to build a processing center for household waste south of Paris. This construction contract with a volume of €210 million will be carried out by a joint venture under Razel's leadership. The complex special-foundation work will be executed by Bilfinger Berger's specialist units. As most of the waste center will be underground it will be constructed in the top-down technique, the surrounding walls will penetrate to a depth of up to 70 meters.

After completion in 2006, the center will process waste from 22 municipalities in the Ile de France region and from three districts of Paris. It will have a capacity of more than 500,000 tons per year, of which 80% will be incinerated and the remaining 20% will be recycled.

Razel is one of the leading companies in France in the field of earthworks and civil engineering. Last year, the company generated an output volume of €330 million. Among its current major projects is the Koudiat Acerdoune Reservoir in Algeria, one of Razel's traditional foreign markets, with a project volume of €100 million. Furthermore, the company is playing a significant role in the expansion of the French TGV high-speed-train network and in the construction of new motorways.
