Mybau and BuildOnline combine their Internet portals
Mybau AG and BuildOnline Ltd. are planning to combine their Internet portals for the construction industry. This will create a new, powerful communication platform for optimizing complex construction processes across national boundaries. Both companies believe this move will lead the way towards the portal consolidation necessary in the construction industry. The new company has strong financial backing and soundly-based, industry-specific expertise.
BuildOnline is based in London and is the leading provider of Internet-based software for the European construction industry. The company is backed by capital from major international investment banks and venture capital funds.
Mybau AG, based in Munich, is jointly owned by Bilfinger Berger AG, Strabag AG and Nemetschek AG, each holding one third of the stock. Following the merger with BuildOnline, Bilfinger Berger will have a minority holding in the new company.
Herbert Bodner, Chairman of the Executive Board of Bilfinger Berger AG, stresses the strategic importance of the company's sustained commitment: "Even though the market is developing more slowly than anticipated, we have no doubt that Internet solutions will be crucial in enhancing the construction sector in future. For this reason, we remain committed to playing a key role in the development of new systems."
