Edmonton ring road
Bilfinger Berger is to design, finance and construct a 21-kilometer highway in Edmonton, Canada and subesequently operate the route for 30 years. This section is part of the ring highway around Alberta’s provincial capital and is due for completion by the end of 2011. The investment volume is in the order of €750 million. Financing will include a publicsector subsidy of around €300 million. The six-lane highway is being developed on the basis of an availability model. This solution, which has proven its worth in Canada, provides for pre-determined fixed payments from the public sector over the operating period. In return, the concession company guarantees the availability of the route.
