When childhood is no longer carefree
The “Kids and Youth Helpline” is Germany’s largest telephone counseling service for children, young people and parents. The service is available free of charge at 0800 111 0 333. Callers can ask for advice on sexual matters, relationships, education and drugs—or just simply talk about their problems.There are around 100 phone lines set up across Germany, staffed by 3,500 volunteers. On Saturdays between 3:00 and 7:00 p.m., calls are answered by young people. 20-year-old student M., who wishes to remain anonymous, is one of sixteen junior counselors in Leipzig.
